NBC LA: News, Weather & Alerts App Reviews

There is no way to only get important notifications. Its either all or none. No one wants a notification about ANOTHER car chase or NBC investigative report. Quit bothering us with trivial things like that or I will switch to another stations app.

After tapping on push notifications for a specific article, app opens and just freezes. Wont load article. Cant even go back to the home page. Must kill the app, open it manually, then manually look for the article.

Removing due to app lock ups and auto playing adds every time a new article is opened. Force playing adds when I want to quietly read an article and not watch the video is BS.

One of the things I loved was that even if the news story had an accompanying video, I didnt have to watch the video. I could simply read the story. NOW you have sold out and decided that whether I want to watch the video or not, I will be blasted with a video ad at 10 times the volume of the actual news video. If I try to stop the video, I will be brought to the website for the ad. Im deleting this app.

Still cant even click a push news alert and have it load. It freezes and never loads. I dont know how hard it is to make a solid app, but neither do the programmers.

This app used to be decent. But now if you want to read a news story, a commercial automatically starts playing, and no way to stop it. Also breaking news stories often cause the app to crash. So I decided to delete the app. Oh yeah, love how their alerts come at times of the day and night. KTLA has much better app.

The first thing I noticed after updating is that if you tap on any article containing a video, it automatically starts playing! I do not like that I dont have a choice just to read the summary. It also plays a commercial right off the bat that you CANNOT stop or pause! Why!?!? I dont see anywhere in settings where I can choose NOT to play videos instantly. I dont want to have to remember to silence my phone every time I want to open the app for news. Another issue I had was when I went to send an article to someone, I continued to hear the video playing in the background.

The app is now full of ads that play audio even if your phone is on silent. App is buggy, you often lose your back arrow and have to start over. Not to mention its full of biased news and bs coverage. Dont waste your time with this garbage app and with NBC in general.

I like this app, but this release plays the videos automatically when you read a story that includes a video. Please change it back!! Let us decide if we want to stream the video or not.

As the other reviews have said, the auto play feature is terrible. Please fix this.

Auto play is the worst thing ever. Why would you do that to your readers? I understand needing ads, I really do. But have you ever tried to catch up on the news while nursing your baby to sleep, only to have them startled awake by a blaring ad? Incidentally, this is also why Ive had to install an ad blocker on my computer. I use this app daily and loved it before the recent update that came with auto play ads.

The app now auto plays an ad followed by the video. There is no way to stop it. Deleting this app now!

You are not responding to requests to change this feature. Ive emailed you twice in a week. Deleting the app today.

I am disappointed. Do you not realize that when you spin your stories in one direction, when you omit opposing facts or fail to report the opposing side(s) altogether you are damaging the free speech you require to operate? You are literally chipping away (willingly) at your own foundations. Please hire some editors and authors who possess a strong work ethic and a professionalism that transcends the issues. Focus on the facts and try a lot harder to be fair and impartial in your reporting.

So I am trying to find out about the Blue Cut fire. The story starts playing a video ad that I cannot mute and I cannot stop. It ignores the physical mute switch. And it keeps restarting. DO NOT INSTALL.

In case you dont grasp sarcasm... Nice job screwing up your app. Delete!

I am deleting this app after the latest update. I dont want to see the same stupid ads automatically playing every time I try to read an article. And the ads are long to make it even worse!

Occasionally this app does works. It is frustrating, however, because when it sends breaking news alerts, it NEVER works. DONT SEND ME A MESSAGE TELLING ME TO URGENTLY WATCH SOMETHING VIA AN APP THAT DOESNT FREAKING WORK!!

The embedded videos in the stories is a major turn off. Say I am on the train and just want to read the news while listening to a podcast, but when the video pops up, my podcast stops. Just greedy station wanting to get more ad dollars. Well, I deleted your app, where is your ad dollars now?
